Joan Gattuso Appears at Unity

Nationally Acclaimed Author and Speaker

Joan Gattuso is one of the most insightful and compelling teachers of our time.
She has inspired millions internationally through her weekly messages, stirring lectures, workshops and bestselling books, A Course in Love and A Course in Life.  Joan’s most recent book, The Lotus Still Blooms, has received The Silver Nautilus Award, outstanding reviews and excerpts in The Buddhist Review Tricycle, Body and Soul, Science of Mind, Unity Magazine and is destined to become a spiritual classic.

Joan was born in Akron, Ohio, where she lived a short time before her family relocated to Gloucester, Massachusetts. At a young age, Joan developed a great love for New England and in its beauty and comfort Joan began her early quest for spiritual enlightenment.
Over the years, Joan’s openness to exploring life’s many opportunities has allowed her to evolve through the highs and lows that come with living a full life.  She has withstood and triumphed over difficult relationships, a cancer diagnosis and subsequent path to healing and the struggles of building a sustainable church.  Joan’s own often painful history developed her commitment to healing the past and attracting joyous circumstances and loving relationships into her own life. Joan has imparted these critical life lessons over the course of her career as a teacher, speaker and author and has become a highly sought after mentor and guide.

Through the insights into her own life, Joan has gained an intense
understanding of our deep connection to a Higher Power and the inner workings of
human relationships and their potential when they are partnered with a spiritual
foundation. Joan has also applied these principles in her personal business and in the establishment of Unity of Greater Cleveland Church in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where all aspects of day-to-day operations come under her supervision.

Joan developed many of her tenets through her work in 1972 to become a Unity minister and her ongoing studies under His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual and political leader of the Tibetan people. She has adopted his teaching that life is to be happy and through compassion, humor, wisdom and spiritual insights Joan gently guides her audience in the steps to get there, to integrate happiness into their everyday lives and maintain their personal inner joy while gaining liberation from suffering.

She has studied extensively with Dr. Jean Houston in her New York State Mystery School, in France with Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, and in India with the late Sai Baba.  Buddhist Sogel Rimpoche is among others who have been drawn to her radiance.
In the mid 90’s within a two week period, Joan was encouraged by both
transformational speakers Wayne Dyer and Marianne Williamson to write a book on
relationships. She took their suggestions to heart and has been creating her message for living a fuller life ever since. Joan writes a regular column in Unity Magazine called “East Meets West.” She has also been published in both Science of Mind and Hawaii magazines.
Joan Gattuso is a dynamic speaker relating her knowledge to all paths of life,
guiding those from the most learned to the reluctant seeker into a deeper
understanding of the exceptional possibilities within this present life. Joan is joyfully
living her philosophy of a happy, holy relationship with her husband, author David
Alexander in Northeast Ohio and continues to be a beacon of light to those seeking a
more triumphant life experience.

Relationships – Holy or Hell?

(Inspired by Joan Gattuso's best-selling book, A Course in Love)

Most of us know what a hellish relationship looks like because we have
experienced at least one or more:

1. Love quickly turns to hate.
2. You lose all sense of self, always doing for the other and forgetting about yourself.
3. You say, “It doesn't matter” when it does.
4. You isolate yourself from family and friends.
5. Your partner's love is conditional upon your actions.

However, there lies deep within each of us the memory that it is possible to be in an unconditionally loving relationship, one that honors each partner, filled with gentleness, kissed by Heaven. There is that place within us where we remember, and we know. It may have become a faint whisper, but when we are quiet, we hear it still.

We remember that we are not here to do battle and create a hell out of relationship's holy ground. We are here to express love and to express it through loving one another.

This workshop is filled with enlightening principles and exercises to open you to ideal relationships on every level>
•    Holy versus special relationships—the root cause of all suffering.
•    The message of my heart.
•    Forgiveness—the path to freedom and happiness.
•    Being queen or king of the forgiveness list.
•    Healing neediness and separation.
•    Reality versus illusion.
•    Rising in love versus falling in love.

An inspirational and joy-filled speaker, Joan Gattuso exudes compassion, wisdom, insight and a deep spiritual understanding that can inspire others to see through appearances and into the unexpressed gifts each of us has within. Through loving communication, well -seasoned with humor, she takes a deep look at the individual's relationship patterns and the means by which to lift those hellish ones into life enriching joy filled holy ones.
