Thursday Morning's at 10:00 AM

Unity Centre is hosting an Edgar Cayce "A Search for God" Study Group.
For those unfamiliar with Mr. Cayce, Edgar was born in Hopkinsville KY in 1877 and has become widely known as the "Sleeping Prophet" of Virginia Beach and the 'Father' of Holistic Medicine.  In his early 20's he discovered his ability to enter into a meditation induced unconscious state and give health "readings" for individuals suffering various conditions - many of which doctors were unable to treat.  Because of push-back from many doctors,  his dream was to eventually establish a hospital where individuals could be treated in accordance with his readings for them.  Eventually his  followers established a the non-profit, The Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. (A.R.E.) and the hospital was established in Virginia Beach in 1928 with the help of a couple New York Wall Street investors.  However, it then failed in 1931 due to the Great Depression.  By then Cayce's readings had branched out into areas relating to dreams, meditation, prayer, soul growth and the philosophy of life.  Out of those depressing times after the failure of the hospital, Edgar gave a series of readings over 11 years that were lessons on the Universal Laws and their application for individual soul growth and spirituality.  These lessons were compiled into a two volume set of books entitled A Search for God which became the basis for the Study Group program.
We meet on Thursday mornings to read and discuss the material, work with our dreams, share our insights, meditate, pray, and choose disciplines to work on outside of the group meetings.  It is a wonderful gathering time for like-minded individuals to engage with one another on this life changing journey.
